AmCares® offers 24/7 nurse triage to all policyholders at no additional cost. Our nurses use nationally recognized triage guidelines to identify the appropriate level of care. Always make AmCares your first step after a workplace injury, as nurses will assess the situation and recommend care options, including:

Nurse Triage Process

  • An employee reports they were hurt on the job
  • Supervisor and employee calls the AmCares Nurse Triage through either:
    • Contacting claims reporting at 888-239-3909 and selecting option to speak to nurse
    • Calling the dedicated nurse triage phone number provided if policyholder is formally enrolled in program
  • A Registered Nurse (RN) assesses the injury and identifies level of care needed
  • The nurse educates the employee on self-care treatment or if needed, directs the employee to the most appropriate level of care
  • Injury and incident details obtained for claims reporting 
  • Service includes triage, claims reporting, and a follow-up call for self-care
  • If the policyholder has formally enrolled in service, an AmCares Point of Injury Report is sent to the predesignated policyholder contacts and claims reporting (if a claim needs to be established)
  • One phone call addresses nurse triage and claims reporting
